    UTTPEC Processing

The project was discussed in 68th UTTIPEC Working Group-II-B meeting under the Chairmanship of Pr. Secretary, PWD on 21.06.2018.  The background, project, details, observations, recommendations of Working Group-II-B meeting are as follows:

    Background & Proposal:

The proposal of Detailed Feasibility Study and geometric design of flyover at Road No. 56 from Vivek Vihar Red Light (Junction point of Vivek Vihar and Surya Nagar) to Raghunath Mandir, Ramprastha Red Light, Delhi, along with detailed design of all intersections and mid-sections based on traffic for the corridor / network envisaged for the decongestion of Road No.56. The proposal was presented by PM, F-5,PWD, GNCTD. The objective of the project is to ease the traffic movement along the corridor which involves a proportion of abutting local trips generating from Vivek vihar, Sunder Nagar, Ramprastha colony and other nearby areas. The priority movement of vehicles from Anand Vihar to Dilshad Garden and vice versa is interrupted at two points (Vivek Vihar Red Light & Ramprastha Red Light) causing a delay to both priority movement and non-priority (across the corridor) movement.

The proposal consists of 3 options.

    1) Option-1, the traffic coming from Anand Vihar is connected to Dilshad Garden through a flyover. Proposed 6 lane flyover is connected to existing ROB near Shrestha Vihar Junction at southern side and near Vivek Vihar intersection at the northern side. In this option, ramps are provided to connect to the elevated corridor near Shresthra Intersection & Ramprastha Intersection. It is observed, at the Vivek Vihar Junction the clear height under the flyover portion is 3.5m which is only sufficient for LMV & NMT movement.

    2) Option-2 provides at grade intersection with 2 Nos. U-turns near Vivek vihar red light and Ramprastha Red light.

    3) Option-3 provides flyover connecting to existing ROB near Shrestha Vihar intersection at the southern side and to the existing ROB near Vivek Vihar intersection at the northern side of the corridor.

    Observation:

    i. Regarding Option-1 it was discussed that the proposed flyover has to comply with IRC Codal provisions regarding the vertical clearance at junction and gradient/slope of the proposed flyover.

ii. Option-2 & 3 are found to be not feasible.

    Recommendation:

Based on the above observations, Working Group recommended Option-1 of the proposal for uploading on UTTIPEC website for community feedback and accordingly for consideration of the Governing Body. PWD is requested to submit the revised drawing incorporating the observations of Working Group for uploading on UTTIPEC website.
